The First Page is the Hardest

You know that feeling when you're about to start a new book? That mix of excitement and slight trepidation? It's a lot like embarking on any new journey. The first page, like the first step, is often the hardest. However, that first page is worth more than a year of thinking about reading.

Many of us put off reading because we're waiting for the perfect moment - a quiet weekend, a long vacation, or that elusive "when I have more time." But life doesn't work that way. The magic happens when you decide to read that first page.

The Compound Interest of Reading

Think of reading as a form of compound interest for your brain. Each page you read, each new word you learn, each idea you encounter - they all add up over time. Its simply all about consistency. Really all you have to do is read for just 15 minutes per day.

Reading for just 15 minutes a day can:

  • - Boost your cognitive function and brain health

  • - Lower your stress levels by up to 68%

  • - Improve your sleep quality

  • - Enhance your empathy and emotional intelligence

  • - Sharpen your analytical and problem-solving skills

  • -Helps expand your attention span which is a big problem for a lot of people in this social media-driven world.

  • -Helps with creativity.. Most ideas come from inspiration… The more you read, the more inspiration you have at your disposal.

On top of all that, a Yale University study found that book readers lived an average of two years longer than non-readers.

The Challenge

So here's your Mind Snack challenge for this week: Find 15 minutes in each day this week to read.

Don't worry about what you "should" be reading. Start with whatever excites you. Fiction, non-fiction, poetry, graphic novels - it all counts. The important thing is to start.

Remember, every reader you admire was once a beginner. Every library was once empty. Every great idea started with someone reading something that sparked their imagination.

P.S. What book are you planning to start (or finish) this week? Reply and let us know…
